The Australian border will reopen to students, workers on Dec 1, 2021

Good news for all students and skilled migrants! The government of Australia has announced that the country’s borders will reopen on 1 December 2021. The fully vaccinated migrants with a valid visa can now move to Australia without applying for the travel exemption.

In May 2020, Australia shut its international border, and only a restricted number of citizens were allowed to enter the country to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The comeback of skilled workers and international students to Australia is a significant milestone. Also, Australia will allow the vaccinated tourists from Japan and South Korea from Dec 1.

Catriona Jackson, chief executive of Universities Australia, said the news would significantly boost the over 130,000 international students with visas waiting to return to Australia. “They are anxious to reunite with their peers in Australia. We look forward to receiving further details so we can work quickly to have students back in Australia by the beginning of the next semester.”
