Situated in the dynamic capital city, the University College Dublin is also known as UCD. This university has its roots in the ‘Catholic University of Ireland’ which was established in 1854. The university is ranked at 193 in the list of the QS World University Rankings 2019 after Trinity College Dublin. With 5 colleges, 18 research centres, and 34 schools, currently, around 34,000 students are enrolled here. The university is associated with many famous alumni such as actor Gabriel Byrne, writer James Joyce, Oscar-winning producer, and director Neil Jordan, and so on.

  1. National University of Ireland, Galway

This university continues to improve its position in the ranking of the QS World University Rankings and now it is placed at 260. The university has received a 5-star rating in the ‘QS Stars Assessments System’ as well. Over 18,700 students are currently enrolled in different programs at this university. The campus of this university is also undergoing a redevelopment program of €400 million. The university is better known for providing students with less-typical courses such as BE or MEng in Sport and Exercise Engineering and BSc. in Podiatry.

Standing at the number 338 in the world, the University College Cork was initially known as the National University of Ireland, Cork but renamed in 1998. This was the first university of the world that received the ‘International Green Flag’ for environmental sustainability in 2010 and a 5-star rating by the QS Stars Assessments System for its overall performance. Based in the city of Cork, the university is highly appreciated for its high-quality education system.

It is a much younger university compared to the other 4 listed above. Established in 1975, Dublin City University has gained its status in 1989. Even though it is not as historic as others, it has gained a strong position in such as short span and its current ranking – 422 is the whole world is clear evidence. Around 17,000 students are enrolled presently. The university possesses an outstanding selection of on-campus facilities such as the Helix – the largest arts venues.
