A standardized test is a test you need to go through while looking for the best options, while a language test is a test to check the proficiency of the aspirant in a particular language. Some universities abroad might ask you for IELTS whereas others might need both IELTS and TOEFL. Universities abroad select the students not only based on their sound academic background but also on achievements and exceptional quality of students.

Question 13: What is the next step after sending my application?

Are you done with the application? If yes, then you should not relax. Keep following up with your advisor cum counselor till you get the response from your university. If you get the notification saying that you need to wait till the admission team confirms it, then you have to wait. Meanwhile, you can utilize your time in doing other activities like researching about the campus and student life, accommodation options, social and cultural life, on-campus and part-time work opportunities, and so on.

Question 14: Why is Statement of Purpose (SOP) and Letter of Recommendation (LOR) important?

An SOP reflects your reasons to study at an international university and your purpose behind getting a degree. An SOP is always carefully studied by the university’s admissions team since that serves as a gateway to understanding your personality and future objectives. So, it is important to write your SOP in the best possible ways so that the admission officers will evaluate your application based on the details provided by you in the document.

On the other hand, a LOR is extremely important while applying to study abroad as certain universities and colleges need someone else to authenticate your academic background, extra-curricular excellence, and professional skills. This document helps the universities in two ways – identify genuine students with a passion for academics or research and choose the best and well-deserving candidates. You can ask your advisor to guide you to write an impressive SOP and ways to get a LOR.
