Statement Of Purpose

Education is a continuous process of growth. Education is not preparation for life but is life itself. I agree with the fact that; it is indeed a difficult decision to re-enter schooling after a work experience of nine years. But the zeal to acquire knowledge can never be a waste of time! Hence here I am.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2009 from Greater Noida Institute of Technology affiliated with Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow wherein I got my first exposure to the corporate world through my month-long internship in Eicher Motors wherein I learned the basics of engineering, teamwork, and a bit of management. During my short tenure there, I realized that I enjoyed the Project, Revenue & Market planning & projection role way better than the fun I have been working as an Electronics Engineer. While researching this a bit more post my internship, the Banking sector seemed to be the most suitable place for me wherein I could get more exposure to the Revenue and Market planning roles that I was inclined towards. Therefore, I started preparing for the banking sector post my graduation. I got selected by Punjab National Bank, one of the largest public sector banks in India, in 2011 and joined them formally in 2012.

I started as a Single Window operator Punjab National Bank in 2012 and through my efforts and dedication, have been rising vertically to various positions. I got promoted to Officer, Deputy Manager, Manager, and finally my current role of Senior Manager. Have been responsible for handling multiple portfolios from Saving A/Cs to large corporate loans. I have learned a lot in these 8 years about management, planning, managing teams, & marketing. I have been appreciated on multiple occasions due to my never say die attitude and willingness to learn. Being trusted with critical responsibilities, I continued to work towards the growth of my organization while inculcating the necessary skills and traits to become a future leader.

After working for over 8 years now, I’ve gained immense practical knowledge in the banking industry, mostly in branch operations. But, now to move further and achieve new heights in top management positions, I need to enhance and develop my skills & knowledge to the next level in the banking & finance domain. Therefore, I plan to pursue a Master’s degree to get that edge in my professional skills.I look forward to doing an MBA in finance to refine my knowledge and sharpen my skills in this domain. It will also help me in getting a better understanding of the global finance and banking landscape. It will also help me improve my tactical, strategic, and managerial skills.

As you might be aware that the Indian banking industry is undergoing a massive shift in the way it works by going digital, interactive, and multi-modal, I believe that understanding the various financial practices in the international domain will come in handy and help me embark further on my journey in this domain. Plus, this course will also help me understand the various management principles to which I haven’t had exposure to till now. Further, this course will also help me get exposure to being in a developed society, working and engaging with a multicultural diaspora. This is essential to manage a global workforce with people of different ethnicities and diverse cultures. Canada has grown as the number one Education destination for students and professionals globally. I have done quite a bit of research regarding the countries where I can pursue the Master of Business Administration course and have finally closed on Canada as one of the best destinations from an education perspective. Therefore, choosing Canada as the country to pursue my higher studies is multifold. If given an opportunity to come and study there, it will be a wonderful chance for me to be exposed to a diverse cultural.
